Chiropractic Care
What you need to know about chiropractic adjusting is that it can benefit you whether you have pain or not! A chiropractor’s job is to find and reduce joint restrictions/subluxation that may cause future painful issues, or to reduce the pain that is already there. Millions of people have found and felt the benefits of regular chiropractic adjustments to prevent future problems. Does that mean you won’t ever have low back pain again if chiropractic fixed it? No. But you will have someone who can get you back to health faster with chiropractic care.
Spinal and extremity adjusting are a safe, gentle and effective way to deal with acute or chronic pain that manifests in the joints of the body. Chiropractic adjusting removes joint restrictions of the spine and extremities, which allows for optimal function of the nervous system. The nervous system directly controls all functions of the body and if the spine isn’t moving properly, then a cascade of effects can occur and end up as pain or discomfort.
To us at Advanced Sports Chiropractic, that is one part of the puzzle. Making sure that the soft tissues of the body are working correctly (muscles, ligaments, tendons, fascia) is as important as the adjusting itself. Some people need more focus on the soft tissues, some need more focus on the chiropractic adjusting. One thing is for sure, we look at you as a whole person, see what your goals are and give complete body care to give you the best chance of healing, staying healthy or performing your best. This is what sets us apart.
Wellness Care
Experience life beyond pain, achiness, soreness and stress.
Wellness is a state of optimal conditions for normal function. The wellness approach is to look for underlying causes of any disturbance or disruption (which may or may not be causing symptoms at the time) and make whatever interventions and lifestyle adjustments would optimize the conditions for normal function. That environment encourages natural healing, and minimizes the need for invasive treatment, which should be administered only when absolutely necessary. When the body is working properly, it tends to heal effectively, no matter what the condition. When the body heals well and maintains itself well, then there is another level of health that goes beyond “asymptomatic” or “pain-free” which reveals an open-ended opportunity for vitality, vibrant health, and an enhanced experience of life. This is true for mental and emotional health as well as physical health.

The Graston Technique
The Graston Technique is a highly effective way to approach stubborn soft tissue injuries or conditions that won’t go away. A stainless steel tool is applied to an area of the body that has scar tissue or adhesions and is “rubbed” along those paths to reduce the problem. What I mean is, we use the Graston tool to act like a sander, rubbing down the rough spots, helping the body break down those tough scar tissue areas. Benefits are noticed within 3-5 visits, and can sometimes take longer. Conditions that the Graston Technique excels with:
| Carpal tunnel syndrome Tennis elbow Tendonitis Sprain/strain Repetitive stress syndromes |
Shin splints Knee problems Myofascial trigger points Plantar Fascitis And more! |
Athletic/Sports Taping
Taping for specific injuries can help enhance the recovery of soft tissue injuries, shoulders, ankles and more. Unloading joints, bones, and tissues often helps them heal without stressing the joint.
Rehabilitation
Often the last part of what is needed to get patient’s to better health. We incorporate stretching, passive and active exercises, core stability, behavioral modifications and more to your treatment plan to get you the best results. Dr. Curtis provides rehabilitation exercises for injuries related to sports, work, motor vehicle accidents and general repetitive stress syndromes.
These exercises can consist of:
| Core stabilization Hip, knee, and foot care |
Neck and low back strength and endurance Shoulder stabilization and rehabilitation |
Exercises
The core is what links the upper and lower body. The core is the area around your waist and back that is often the weak point for many types of injuries. Making sure the core area is functioning well is especially important in achieving your athletic goals without getting injured.
Behavior Modifications
Behavior modifications are very important when improving a condition related to an overuse syndrome. Someone who works at a desk 8 hours a day, is lifting or pushing objects, bent over or working in a high stress environment needs to find ways to change their scenario to allow the body to take a break and recover from the constancy. This is an extremely important step in helping your body heal and we can guide you through this.
Work related behaviors can cause repetitive stress syndromes that can plague you for years and years. We offer suggestions for changing work station ergonomics, body, arm and hand positions, chairs, desks, how long to sit, how often to walk and more. If you can’t quit the job that gives you health problems, then you have to work hard to make the best of the situation. We can help.
Gait Analysis
A general analysis of how you walk or run, cycle or swim, to help reduce the injury or chance of getting an injury. We look at how the feet interact with the ground, your shoes, your knees on up to your low back and neck, if necessary. Slight modifications to your activity can make the difference between having fun or having a lot of problems.
